groovy bloom doula

pregnancy, birth, & postpartum care
About

Welcome! The name's Saro!
I'm a birth & postpartum doula
based in Erwin, TN, serving Asheville, NC to Johnson City, TN.

I work with groovy pregnant & postpartum folks to provide you with a pocket of space & time where you can feel seen & cared for. Your goals become mine. My perspective is rooted in confidence that you are capable, and your intuition knows best. I am honored when I am chosen to help hold your birthspace.
When people are tended like a garden - with rich food, water, sunshine, and lots of love - you can watch them bloom.
You can find me: reading books about babies, parents, & families, mending clothes with needle & thread, drinking something warm (is it coffee? is it soup?), & foraging/ wandering through the woods.

I am a very relational & deeply empathetic person, and I want my work to empower and validate.
I received my B.A. in Women's and Gender Studies.
I have spent many years learning about the experiences of women throughout history and cross-culturally. I specialized my studies in reproductive health and autonomy. Many of my courses explored the complexity of sexuality and gender, and it is essential for me to be inclusive and appreciative of the identities of all people!

Intersectional Understanding
I believe that pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and feeding support should be available to everyone, regardless of financial standing.
I recognize there are institutions that systematically restrict opportunities, and
I offer a sliding scale so access to high-quality, respectful care is more available.
Land Acknowledgment
“When we talk about land, land is part of who we are. It’s a mixture of our blood, our past, our current, and our future. We carry our ancestors in us, and they’re around us. As you all do.”
– Mary Lyons (Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe)
I live & work on occupied Cherokee Land.
This Land shapes the way I walk the planet, the care I provide for others, and how I advocate for injustice. Its history is an integral part of how we move forward in life.
Birth-work cannot be separated from anti-racist-work. In fact, those working with pregnant people and new parents must be knowledgeable - and continue to dedicate themselves to learning - about the disparities that face BIPOC, especially within the medical system. I set the intention to commit my work to value your personal experiences, to remain an eternal student, and to support you with the utmost respect.
I affirm all families,
all bodies,
& all identities.
